Cleaning Your Ceiling Lint Traps – Fall 2024
November 22, 2024
Condos with ensuite laundry will have two lint traps. The first is the typical lint trap that we are all familiar with, located and shipped within the door of the dryer. The second is a secondary, or supplemental lint trap which is located in the ceiling of the laundry room. The trap shipped with the dryer does not always catch all matter, so the second one in the ceiling is meant to minimize lint buildup in the ventilation system.
Cleaning your second lint trap assists with dryer efficiency, and greatly reduces the risk of a fire. This lint trap should be cleaned every 2-3 laundry loads. The lint trap inside your dryer should be cleaned with every load.
To effectively clean your secondary lint trap, gently pull on the handle or knob accessible on the panel. The trap will be bound to the pipe opening via two metal clasps, which can be removed and reinstalled by pinching the clasps together and removeing / re-inserting them into the metal retainer. Ensure that the entire trap is clear of all lint, pet hair, and small items before placing it back in the ceiling.
Thank you for your cooperation.
